AN INCOMPLETE WORK

Philippians 1:6 (ESV)

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Hi, my name is Gabriel Crowell (BMus - Piano Performance). My musical journey has been that of a rebel, wanderer and outsider. The sad reality is that I have consistently found more belonging outside the church than inside. I thoughtfully consider all genres for use in sacred music, but I have a profound respect for gospel (definitely not of the southern variety) and/or spirituals. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, God has given me spiritual songs to write outside of the church that have yet to be used to their fullest potential inside of it; but I trust that He has started this good work in me for a reason. As the Spirit leads/moves, I create and arrange sacred soundscapes with an emphasis on meditative, careful, biblical interpretation, sound exposition, text painting, tonal color (timbre) and genuine, personal experiences; all without the use of AI. I am a singer-songwriter, composer and arranger not by choice, but by calling. Why not write secular music? Trust me, I have tried. God has clearly given me these musical gifts to give back to Him, in order that He alone is glorified. I pray that He uses the music He has given me to shine His light where there is darkness, show His love where there is hate, sharpen His discernment where there is deceit, shape His kingdom where there is oppression, shower His hope where there is despair and share His healing where there is brokenness.

Colossians 3:16-17 (ESV)

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
